Who doesn’t love Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything series? Now he has published one just for kids, How To Cook Everything Kids: Empowering Young Chefs with Essential Kitchen Skills, Adventurous Eating, and Customizable Recipes for Joyful Discovery ... Kitchen. As is Bittman’s usual, this book is filled with lots of information and recipes that teach basic cooking skills.

Bittman has chosen recipes that will appeal to most kids. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with a list of ingredients followed by step-by-step instructions. They are easy to follow and are written in “kid-speak,” which makes it possible for older kids to make the dishes by themselves.
This cookbook is very colorful, and is full of cute illustrations, tips, and hints. It also has beautiful, professional photographs of most of the dishes. This is essential to keep the interest of kids, and Bittman has done an excellent job.

All told, Bittman has outdone himself. He has chosen kid-friendly recipes that appeal to kids and also the entire family. Kids can learn skills from this cookbook that will give them an incentive to expand their cooking expertise to be able to follow recipes in other cookbooks successfully. This one is excellent.
